I would just like to thank the Occupy Wall Street movement, and especially the protest going on outside that is louder than the traffic and the tourists and the hoards of taxis, and I mean this. There are too many people who have been hurt by institutionalized racism or by the greed of corporations whose illegal affairs continue to be excused by the big men in charge. There are too many people who have been suppressed by the education system because of where they were from, how much money their families did(n’t) make. There are too many corporations controlling and manipulating consumers - manipulating ME and MY family. There are too many people who haven’t had the privilege to make a life for themselves, and they want the world to know that that isn’t a privilege, it’s a right, and it’s a right they’re being denied.

I love peaceful protests. I love street demonstrations, street musicians, graffiti. I even love the guys standing on the corners telling me to find Jesus before it’s too late. I love hearing their minds, I love hearing their voices. I love that people in this country have the right to demonstrate their beliefs and I love that I have the privilege to witness them. But I hate what this country has become and that’s where I stand with Occupy. If you know me, you know my issues with the food industry, with genetically modified crops, with the commodity crops manipulated to favor the companies selling the underprivileged “food” that shouldn’t even be labeled as such. If you know me, you know my issues with the education system - I could go on here, but I don’t have time. The point is that I’ve seen a lot of hate amongst by peers directed toward Occupy and I haven’t heard a single realistic complaint. The argument that they “don’t have a leader” or that they “don’t have a mission” has been argued and shot down so many times that I’m embarrassed that it’s still an argument. There are so many people that NEED Occupy because those are the people whom it directly affects - how did I end up in this mess of kids who can’t appreciate their own privilege to peacefully protest the injustices of their own nation, how did I end up in the generation that has fallen in love with convenience to the point where they roll their eyes at their fellow citizens trying valiantly to make a change in the world? I know so few people that have bothered to inform themselves about the movement that it sickens me to hear them talk about it at all.

Get off your asses, people. There are people who don’t have the luxury of sitting on them at all.

How do so many people walk around the city in heels? It makes me aware of how fast everyone actually walks, and the ground is so hard it sends shocks up half my legs. I don’t understand.
